Constipation occurs when the passage of faeces is less frequent than the person’s normal pattern. The faeces are hard and dry because the passage of food along the intestine is slowed. This means that too much water is absorbed from food in the large intestine, into the blood stream. Threadworms are small intestinal parasitic worms. The worms look like fine white threads but are difficult to see because of their size and colour. Threadworms are most common in small children because they are not fully aware of the importance of hygiene and can easily forget to wash their hands.
